Support Iowa Victim Service Call Center in Ways That Work for You

There are a lot of ways to support our mission. If you’re interested in charitable giving, there are many ways you can have an impact.

Every gift is appreciated and helps further our mission of helping people in need. If there’s a way that you’d like to make a charitable gift but you don’t see it listed anywhere on our website, feel free to contact us. We’d love to talk to you about your potential gift and make sure we honor your wishes.

Consider Donating from Your Donor-Advised Fund

If you have a donor-advised fund, you’re likely well aware of the importance of supporting charitable organizations. If you have a passion for helping others live a life that’s safe, healthy, and free from violence, this could be a great way to support the Iowa Victim Service Call Center. You can recommend a single or recurring donation and become part of the solution for people to make long-term, sustainable changes in their lives. Your gifts will help people embark on a journey toward safety, healing, and freedom.

Check if Your Employer Offers Matching Gifts

Some employers will match donations dollar for dollar. That means your gift to the Iowa Victim Service Call Center could be doubled! The best way to find out if your employer provides matching gifts is to ask. Your employer can help navigate you through the process of matching your gift. Many employers have different workplace giving campaigns for employees to support their favorite charitable causes. You can consider getting involved and designating the Iowa Victim Service Call Center as your charity of choice.

IRA Charitable Rollovers

IRA charitable rollovers can be a great way for some donors to give a gift to the Iowa Victim Service Call Center. IRA charitable rollovers allow taxpayers to make charitable gifts directly from their IRA to eligible charities, like us, without having to pay income taxes on the money.

Donors can give any amount up to $100,000 per year. The IRA charitable rollover is a popular gift option because of the tax benefit. It is sometimes referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD.

There are many potential benefits to a gift of this type. The Iowa Victim Service Call Center will put your gift to use immediately so you can see the impact of your gift and the difference it makes in helping to end violence in the lives of others. Here are some other benefits:

  • In the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD).
  • You pay no income taxes on an IRA charitable rollover.
  • It’s beneficial to taxpayers even if you do not itemize deductions.
  • The gift does not count as income, so it can reduce your annual income level. There are benefits to a reduced annual income level, so talk with your financial advisor today.

We know that IRAs typically come with different rules and regulations at different ages. You can still support the Iowa Victim Service Call Center through your IRA, regardless of your age. You can designate the Iowa Victim Service Call Center as a beneficiary to all or part of your IRA and it will pass to our organization tax-free after your lifetime. To do this, you would need to contact your IRA administrator and request a change-of-beneficiary form. It is important to let us know of your future gift. Some retirement plan administrators have no obligation to notify a charity of the designation and also are not required to monitor if gift designations are followed. Letting us know will help us ensure your gift intentions are followed. Thank you in advance for considering a gift!

The information in this section should not be taken as legal, accounting, tax, or other professional advice. We recommend that anyone considering an IRA charitable rollover talk to their financial or legal advisor to ensure it’s the right gift for you. If you would like to include the Iowa Victim Service Call Center in your plans, use the legal name of our nonprofit (Family Crisis Centers, Inc.) and our federal tax ID (42-1185690). The Iowa Victim Service Call Center is a program of Family Crisis Centers, Inc. Contact us to let us know of your gift intentions so we can ensure your gift helps support our mission in the ways you want it to.

Gifts of Grain

Grain farmers are an essential part of the world as they help nourish and enrich the lives of many. At the Iowa Victim Service Call Center, we want to nourish and enrich the lives of others, too. We do that in our way by encouraging safety, healing, and freedom from violence. We believe we can work together to help others. If you consider donating a gift of grain directly to our nonprofit organization, it can have significant tax benefits for you.

Gifts of grain can be a great way to invest in our mission and achieve tax savings. When you gift grain directly to a charitable organization like ours, you can avoid the sale which results in income. This can reduce your taxable income, potentially lessening the amount of income tax and self-employment tax owed. It’s also possible that you could still deduct the production costs associated with growing the donated grain.

We know that everyone’s tax situation is different, so we recommend talking to your tax professional. We don’t provide tax advice at the Iowa Victim Service Call Center. Your tax professional can give you advice that pertains to you and your situation. It’s best to talk to them before making any gifts of grain so that you can give with confidence knowing it’s the right decision for you.
